WonderConji Weekend Day 3: HELLLLO RARITY [13 Apr 2015|08:15am]
Am I late for this? Well lemme talk about the Easter Sunday I had.

It was a rather short one. I went to a couple of panels, and played a bit of NERF just for fun. I also met up with Jess Harnell(The main reason why I went on a Sunday).

Apparently, Jess Harnell enjoyed meeting with fans at the Anime Conji as oppose to the craziness of the San Diego Comic-Con. The smaller crowds, the less hectic schedule, it gave him something to enjoy with his time at the Anime Conji.

That ended my WonderConji weekend. But surprisingly, my next convention is not The San Diego Comic-Con, but rather a con that will come to San Diego this year: Westercon, A West Coast Sci-Fi convention.

WonderConji Weekend Day 2: Never leave the cave without it [04 Apr 2015|10:29pm]
I went from Anime Conji to Wondercon today. The drive was indeed long.

I made a few purchases today

-Protoman Kubrick and Be@rbrick set
-SH Figuarts Luigi
-My Little Pony: Friends forever Volume 2
-My Little Pony: Friends Forever volume 3
-IDW My Little Pony Issue 28
-two Sketch pads
-Images of Mario and Luigi

I went to a Superman panel, followed by the Teen Titans Go panel with Scott Menville and Greg Cipes. I need to get back into the series. But I did get one question out: What would Robin do if he had Batman's Bat Credit card? Scott's answer: Spend it all on the Titan Tower.

I even got to play some Nintendo games(Including Smash Bros) and won a free Splatoon T-Shirt.

Tomorrow, back to the Conji. I will meet with Jess Harnell and make one more purchase.

WonderConji Weekend Day 1: That's Nasty [03 Apr 2015|09:36pm]
Not much to talk about today, except...

1) Played some Smash Bros with a few strangers. And I still suck at it(Though playing as Toon Link may have given me a bit of insight)

2) Got a chance to play a Kickstarter game called Aegis

3) Watched some Dragon Ball GT

4) Met with Kevin Michael Richardson, got his autograph and I gave him a picture I did at last year's SD County Fair

The only thing I bought was a commissioned picture from the artist for Aegis.

Tomorrow is the big day. I'm heading up north to Anaheim for the 2015 Wondercon.

Welcome back: Lucas [02 Apr 2015|08:19pm]
Hey. It's been a long time since my last LJ post. Before I get into details, just wanna let you know I have a huge weekend: Anime Conji and Wondercon.

First off, the release date for Mewtwo is confirmed to be later this month(Earlier for Club Nintendo fans who registered Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS on the site before early this mont).

Second, as a surprise, the 2nd DLC will be none other than the 2nd Earthbound character: Lucas(Who was introduced in Smash Bros Brawl)

Lucas will be out around Juneish. At that time, we'll know who will be back as DLC and who will be all new.(Please let it be Dixie Kong)

Wii U Starter set [23 Oct 2014|07:23pm]
Well I just learned about the Wii U starters for Super Smash Bros. It's like Smash Bros 3DS, except you actually get a few more right off the bat.

Classic:
Mario
Donkey Kong
Link
Samus
Yoshi
Kirby
Fox
Pikachu
Jigglypuff
Captain Falcon
Ness
Luigi

For the first time ever, EVERY character from Super Smash Bros will be unlocked right off the bat. That includes Ness and Jigglypuff(Who are hidden in the 3DS version).

Melee:
Peach
Bowser
Zelda
Sheik
Marth
Ganondorf

Surprisingly, Ganondorf will also be available right off the bat, allowing fans of the Demon King to tear right into their opponents.

Brawl:
Metaknight
Pit
Zero Suit Samus
Charizard
Ike
Diddy Kong
Sonic
King Dedede
Olimar(With Alph)
Lucario
Toon Link

Strangely, nether ROB nor Wario will be available. Probably the fact that 3 of the previous hidden characters are available.

Wii Fit Trainer
Villager
Mega Man
Rosalina and Luma
Little Mac
Greninja
Mii
Palutena
Pac-Man
Robin
Shulk
Bowser Jr(With Koopalings)

Bowser Jr will be the only character from the 3DS game to be unlockable right from the start. Ever other fighter will have to be unlocked.

Speaking of which, here's Bowser Jr's video(With the Koopalings)

Smash Bros DLC Announcement: A very hearty welcome back Mewtwo [23 Oct 2014|04:39pm]
Well for the first time ever, Super Smash Bros will have its own DLC. And what luck, it happens to be the famous Genetic Pokemon Mewtwo.

The DLC will be available this Spring, though ANYONE who owns both the Wii U and 3DS versions will get this for free.

San Diego Comic Fest Final Day [19 Oct 2014|10:09pm]
Not much to talk about. Went to a few panels

1) Must Science-Fiction Films be dumb? Some examples of failed ideas included Jumper and DooM(The latter due to being an adaption of a Video Game and a book).

2) Animation: Then and Now: This panel focuses on two veteran animators: Floyd Norman and Willie Ito. They not only talk about their craft and experience, but even some of the actors who helped shape their craft.

3) Reboots and Remakes: Ran into this one by accident. There are examples of reboots and remakes of IPs that goes well(Dark Knight Trilogy) and some that will make others shake their heads(TMNT 2014)

4) Kaiju: All about the Kaiju like Godzilla and Ultraman. Speaking of which, I have both on DVD so I Can check em out when I can. And believe it or not, they both lead to future franchises through Tokusatsu and Super Sentai(As a matter of fact, there was a Spiderman Tokusatsu)

5) Invader Zim: Some behind the scenes concept drawings on the hit TV series Invader Zim

6) Con Talkback: Not much to talk about. I may consider signing up for Artist Alley just for the heck of it. But I learned some bad news: The Town and Country Hotel and Convention may end up being shut down and bulldozed into condominiums. :(

Anyway, that's it for the SD Comic Fest. All I picked up were a Deadpool Comic and an Annoying Orange Comic. But better that than nothing.

San Diego Comic Fest Day 2 [18 Oct 2014|10:17pm]
3 panels today

First Panel: Arkham Sessions by Dr Andrea Letamendi. It goes into details about what goes on in the world of Batman: The Animated series. You can find her podcasts on iTunes

https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/the-arkham-sessions/id806565467?mt=2

SEcond Panel: Fandom. Hosted by the Black Nerd again. It was more about talking about fandoms in various media, like TMNT, Power Rangers and My Little Pony

Third Panel: Wizard of MGM. Talks about the special FX used in Wizard of Oz. You can get the book at http://www.amazon.com/The-Wizard-MGM-Memoirs-Gillespie/dp/1593932928/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1413695816&sr=8-1&keywords=Wizard+of+MGM

Most of the day, I spent drawing images for the heck of it. Later on, I'm gonna post the pencil art of my drawings that I plan on inking in Illustrator.

Tomorrow's the final day.

San Diego Comic Fest Day 1 [17 Oct 2014|08:13pm]
Before I begin, I forgot to state that yesterday was my birthday. Anyway, this is basically my swag

NERF N-Strike Elite Barrel Breaker IX-2
Transformers Flip N Change Bumblebee
Power Rangers Legacy DRagon Dagger
Power Rangers Legacy Dragonzord
Super Smash Bros 3DS

Anyway, all I did today was do some drawing practice at the Comic Fest Cafe. Then I went to the following panels

1) A panel about drawing and how times have changed from going from classic pencil/paper to computers
2) A panel about self-publishing
3) A Metalocalypse Panel
4) A panel focused on Comic-COn president John Rogers.

Tomorrow is day 2 of the Comic Fest.

The remaining Smash Bros 3DS Characters [02 Oct 2014|06:29pm]
Tomorrow, Super Smash Bros for the 3DS finally hits North America. However, I will not obtain this game till my birthday(October 16th). So before that day comes, here's alook at the complete cast. First, here's the starters you get.

From Smash Bros(10):
Mario
DK
Link
Samus
Kirby
Fox
Pikachu
Luigi
Yoshi
Captain Falcon

From Melee(5):
Bowser
Peach
Marth
Zelda
Sheik

From Brawl(10):
Pit
Olimar
Toon Link
Sonic the Hedgehog(3rd party rep)
King Dedede
Lucario
Diddy Kong
Zero Suit Samus
Charizard(From Pokemon Trainer)
Ike

Newcomers(11):
Animal Crossing Villager
Wii Fit Trainer
Mega Man(3rd party rep)
Rosalina and Luma
Little Mac
Greninja
Mii
Palutena
Pac-Man(3rd party rep)
Robin
Shulk

In my mind, that cast alone is astounding. Even without hidden characters, I will be having a fun time figuring out everyone's moves. What's more, previously hidden characters are available right off the bat(Captain Falcon(His 2nd time), Luigi, Marth, Toon Link(Only Clone character to be available right off the bat), Lucario and Sonic)

But who are the remaining characters? Well see for yourself

Spoilers for those who haven"t seen the list. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNEDCollapse )

Smash Bros 3DS: Starting characters [07 Sep 2014|07:47am]
Since June of 2013, I have been documenting the characters of Super Smash Bros 4. Who will be in it, who will return, who is cut out(Most likely Snake, Lucas, Wolf and Ice Climbers along with Squirtle and Ivysaur).

Someone has gotten their hands on the 3DS version and it looks like there is alot of characters confirmed for the game. Below is the characters you will have right off the bat.

Warning: Major SpoilersCollapse )

Uh-Oh(Warning: New Challenger Approaches) [29 Aug 2014|07:18am]
Guess this must be the ultimate payoff of Operation Rainfall

A while ago, I talked about a leak that mentioned Shulk as one of the newcomers. Well I can safely confirm that Shulk from Xenoblade Chronicles will be joining the Smash. Many believe that Shulk will be an Ike clone. But with the ability to switch modes with the Monado, Shulk will be a unique character for the Smash Bros Universe.

We stand at 38 official characters. Who will round out the list next month?

From Smash Bros:
Mario
DK
Link
Samus
Kirby
Fox
Pikachu
Luigi
Yoshi
Captain Falcon

From Melee:
Bowser
Peach
Marth
Zelda
Sheik

From Brawl:
Pit
Olimar
Toon Link
Sonic the Hedgehog(3rd party rep)
King Dedede
Lucario
Diddy Kong
Zero Suit Samus
Charizard(From Pokemon Trainer)
Ike

Newcomers:
Animal Crossing Villager
Wii Fit Trainer
Mega Man(3rd party rep)
Rosalina and Luma

Smash Bros Rumors: The Final characters [19 Aug 2014|06:02pm]
Before we get to that, here are the 37 confirmed characters for Smash Bros 4.

From Smash Bros:
Mario
DK
Link
Samus
Kirby
Fox
Pikachu
Luigi
Yoshi
Captain Falcon

From Melee:
Bowser
Peach
Marth
Zelda
Sheik

From Brawl:
Pit
Olimar
Toon Link
Sonic the Hedgehog(3rd party rep)
King Dedede
Lucario
Diddy Kong
Zero Suit Samus
Charizard(From Pokemon Trainer)
Ike

Newcomers:
Animal Crossing Villager
Wii Fit Trainer
Mega Man(3rd party rep)
Rosalina and Luma
Little Mac
Greninja
Mii
Palutena
Pac-Man(3rd party rep)
Lucina
Robin

Anyway, some new rumors popped up on what may be the final set of characters. Here's abit of evidence.

http://i.imgur.com/7epqFJU.jpg

Classic:
Ness
Jigglypuff

That alone would mark the 3rd time all 12 Smash Bros classic characters would return(Obvious when it comes to Ness since he has his Amiibo figure. But Jigglypuff is a sight for sore eyes)

Melee:
Falco
Ganondorf
Mr Game and Watch
Dr Mario

Gone apparently are the Ice Climbers Popo and Nana. Falco, Ganon and Mr Game and Watch would return for their 3rd appearance. In an interesting turn of events, one previously dropped character will return and that is Dr Mario. No word if Mewtwo is back(considering that he has 2 Mega Evolutions like Charizard)

Brawl:
Wario
R.O.B.

Obviously, Snake is not available due to a lack of contribution by Konami(That and the Solid Snake character may have been retired in favor of Big Boss). Squirtle and Ivysaur are also cut since Charizard separated from them and the Pokemon trainer. But it seems both Lucas and Wolf are cut from the game, thus reducing the Star Fox and Earthbound reps by 1. As of now, the only remaining returning characters are R.O.B. and Wario.

Newcomers:
Bowser Jr
Duck Hunt Dog
Dark Pit
Shulk

Seems these last newcomers are the following. 1) Bowser Jr, Bowser's son and the 8th Koopaling from Super Mario Bros. 2) That blasted, no good, trollish Duck Hunt Dog, 3) Dark Pit from Kid Icarus: Uprising, and 4) Shulk from Xenoblade Chronicles.

BTW, why isn't the Mii in the leak? Here's your answer. http://i.imgur.com/gunDk9L.jpg

Anyway, next month in Japan, we'll find out the final truth about Super Smash Bros 4's line-up. Till then, keep your fingers crossed.
Respect your elders

Welcome Back: Metaknight [13 Aug 2014|07:44am]
Well I was wondering when he would show up, considering the Halberd stage was confirmed to return since April.

Back in 2006 when Smash Bros Brawl was announced, Meta Knight was confirmed as one of the initial newcomers, wielding the mighty Galaxia blade. Seems the only non-3rd party character that is left that was introduced during that time is none other than Wario. But anyway, it is nice to see the Kirby character trio reunited for Smash Bros 4.

37 Characters down.

From Smash Bros:
Mario
DK
Link
Samus
Kirby
Fox
Pikachu
Luigi
Yoshi
Captain Falcon

From Melee:
Bowser
Peach
Marth
Zelda
Sheik

From Brawl:
Pit
Olimar
Toon Link
Sonic the Hedgehog(3rd party rep)
King Dedede
Lucario
Diddy Kong
Zero Suit Samus
Charizard(From Pokemon Trainer)
Ike

Newcomers:
Animal Crossing Villager
Wii Fit Trainer
Mega Man(3rd party rep)
Rosalina and Luma
Little Mac
Greninja
Mii
Palutena
Pac-Man(3rd party rep)
Lucina
Robin

Now, unless we get another character announcement between now and September 10th(Smash Bros 3DS release), this may be the last one we get. There are still characters left to return(Ex: Wario, Ice Climbers and Ness), not to mention there are still some newcomers left to sneak into the series. So keep your eyes peeled.

Comic-Con Day 4: Till All Are One [27 Jul 2014|07:16pm]
No illness today. I was in top shape for the final day.

-Made some final purchases for today(Actually, one toy: the Ambiguously Gay duo figure for my brother)

-Got an autograph from Evangeline Lilly on the book

-Met up with Scott Shaw(Bought a comic book of the Simpsons from him)

-Did two panels hosted by Mark Evanier(One is comic book covers, and boy the way they talk about them was funny. The other was the business of cartoon voices(http://www.voiceoverresourceguide.com/ if you want info on agents in New York, Los Angeles or other areas)

Now, during the four days, I gave a picture that I did during my Spring class at Grossmont for the San Diego County Fair. It won a 2nd place ribbon. You can find it at http://daimando.deviantart.com/art/Wanda-Young-explores-a-submerged-ship-463564315 Here's who I gave it to.(An S means I also signed it for the person)

-John DiMaggio(S)
-Rob Paulsen(S)
-Fred Tatasciore(S)
-Andrea Romano
-Dee Bradley Baker
-Lawrence Shapiro
-Brandon Sonnier
-Steve Broback
-Jack Black(Yes, that Jack Black)
-Kyle Gass
-Jason David Frank(Signed a drawing of him as the Green Ranger and an Alicorn)
-Meghan McCarthy
-Andrea Libman

Comic-Con Day 3: Panel madness [26 Jul 2014|09:10pm]
Early that day, I was able to meet up with Dino Andrade and Gregg Berger, not to mention my 2nd meeting with Tara Strong at the Lightspeed booth.

But the day was spent at Room 6BCDF with 4 back-to-back panels

1) Quick Draw: A panel hosted by Mark Evanier where he invites Scott Shaw, Sergio Aragonés and a 3rd illustrator. In this case, it's Floyd Norman. Panel was hilarious as always.

2) Cartoon Voices: I'm only doing one again this year. But it's because it had Jim Cummings(Who I gave a picture to), Sherry Lynn(My Little Pony), Arif S. Kinchen(Pierce Washington on Saints Row), David Sobolov(Beast Wars and Transformers Prime), Colleen O'Shaugnessy(New voice of Tails on Sonic Boom)

3) Marvel Cup-O-Joe: A little insight into future Marvel Comic projects, and an animated feature.

4) 75th Anniversary of Batman: Featuring Kevin Conroy. We got a peak at Batman's big events from his first comic to his first TV show to the 1989 Tim Burton Batman film, and even Batman: The Animated Series, Batman Beyond and the Dark Knight Trilogy

Afterwards, I spent the rest of the day wandering the exhibit hall.

My swag? An Armored Mighty Morphin Black Ranger figure, A Black Zero figure, A Copy of Transformers Animated on DVD, and a Vinyl Scratch Comic-Con Exclusive

Final day is tomorrow. I hate last days at Comic-Con. But it's got to come to an end. :(

Comic-Con Day 2: I am BatPony [25 Jul 2014|10:15pm]
Before I begin, I want to point out that yesterday, I ran into Wally Wingert who was going to another panel. He's declined on the CArtoon Voices panel as he wants to let others in.

Anyway, it's Day 2. I kicked off the day with two panels

Panel 1: The Squickerwonkers. It sounds like a really interesting story done by Hobbit actress Evangeline Lilly. Her book will be on sale this November. During the panel, the first person, a little girl, got to read a part of the bookk.

Panel 2: My Little Pony. Season 5 is coming up. We only got one big scene shown off. My question was "Will we see a MLP/Transformers crossover?" And believe it or not, Meghan thinks it may be possible. Though not without Peter Cullen and Frank Welker in my books. XP

Afterwards, I got to meet up with Andy Price, had a little chat with Meghan, met up with Vic Mignogna and Walter Jones and even got to test drive Skylanders: Trap Team and Hyrule Warriors.

Somehow before my final panels, I got to the Entertainment Earth booth to find it devoid of any long lines. What happened? Did Comic-Con goers grow tired? So I went there and made some purchases.

Finally, I checked out the Batman: Assault on Arkham. Great movie, great focus on Deadshot, Killer Frost, Captain Boomerang and Harley Quinn. I recommend checking out. But be warned, it's raunchy and violent.

My question to them was: Why do we not have anything like that in theaters? And the crowd was begging for this to happen and the panelists said "If you write to Warner Bros, they will comply.

Anyway: my purchases

A copy of Squickerwonkers
The MLP Convention Exclusive comic with the Mane-iac
A Queen Chrysalis Doll
A Lord Zedd toy

Day 3 is tomorrow. I got a date with the Cartoon Voices panel.
Respect your elders

Comic-Con Day 1: Go Go Mane-Iac [24 Jul 2014|09:23pm]
After a long hard hour or two, I finally got into the Hasbro Toy Shop Booth again. And like last time, I acquired some items.

Before then, I was able to check out Super Smash Bros on Wii U. I chose Greninja just for the heck of it...and bombed badly. :(

I also got to test drive Sonic Boom. The game reminded me of the LEGO games with 4 characters and I will pick this up. The only flaw I have is with the boss battles. But other than that, it's better than Sonic 06

I was also at the Peanuts panel. I was given an opportunity to ask a question. But the person in front of me actually imitated the adult characters from the series. Turns out, it was Fred Tatasciore. XP. I was able to ask my question about Charles Schultz's involvement in the "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" play, and he was a supervisor to the play. In fact, three years from now, there will be a 50th Anniversary of the play.

Next panel was the I know that Voice panel. I asked a simple question about having your voice with canadian actors, though they did have a bit of fun. Afterwards, I gave the entire panel copies of a drawing I did for the San Diego County fair. Rob Paulsen, Fred Tatasciore and John DiMaggio got my autograph out of it.

I later met with Jack Black and Kyle Gass that day. I even got them to do a video for me.

I also caught up with Jason David Frank and gave him a copy of a drawing I did of him as an Alicorn. Boy is Tara STrong gonna be mad at me. XP

Finally, I went to two more panels: A Panel about STick figure drawing which I actually did got some inspiration, and a Adventure's in Voice Acting panel with Jonathan Adams(Xuen from World of Warcraft and Tyrael from Diablo 3).

As for my swag: Two Mane-Iac figures, a Mane-iac Equestria Girls toy(My first one), A Hordak figure from MAttel, and something for my brother.

Tomorrow is Pony day for me. And like I said, anything about Smash Bros characters that are mentioned, I will post as soon as I can.
